I have eaten quinoa about once a week for the past several years and I have tried almost every single brand sold at grocery stores and online of the white, red, black and tri-color varieties grown in Peru, Bolivia and the US. Lundberg's Antique White Quinoa is my favorite and I continue to buy only this particular quinoa even though it's more expensive than other options. White quinoa is not all the same and if you do a comparison between this quinoa and other white quinoa, you will definitely notice a difference. This quinoa is denser and not as light and fluffy as other white quinoa, which may or may not suit your personal preference. The fiber content is higher and overall this quinoa just is more satisfying. It's organically grown in the US. One downside of this particular quinoa is that it is not pre-rinsed like most of the quinoa that comes from South America. This quinoa must be rinsed thoroughly at least seven to 10 times to remove the saponins; if the quinoa is not adequately rinsed, you may experience severe abdominal cramps and diarrhea after eating it. I usually rinse the quinoa three times (the water turns milky white), then soak the quinoa in filtered water for 12-24 hours, drain the liquid, and then rinse again four more times. It's time consuming but I have yet to find a better quinoa and to me the time invested in preparing this to eat is worth it. If you are interested in eating quinoa for its wonderful health benefits and have never tried this particular brand and variety before, consider giving it a try to compare it to other brands that you are familiar with. On a side note, I love adding fresh stinging nettle (when they're in season) to the pot towards the end of the cooking time and then letting the quinoa sit for 15 minutes off of the stove while the stinging nettle steams. Then I add extra virgin olive oil and grated garlic and mix the cooked stinging nettle with the quinoa. It's very easy and tastes great.
