Chia Seeds
For centuries, this tiny little seed was used as a staple food alongside corn and beans by the ancient Aztecs, Incans, and Mayans. Known as the running food, they would eat this high energy endurance food mixed with water, as they ran from the Colorado River to the Pacific Ocean to trade goods.
Chia seed has the unique ability to absorb up to 12 times its weight in water. This ability to hold water can prolong hydration and retain electrolytes in body fluids, especially during periods of extreme physical exertion.
Healthy Omega-3 Essential Fatty Acids, calcium, protein, antioxidants and fiber are just a few of the nutrients this little seed packs for a nutritional punch.
Suggested Use
You need: 2 tbsp chia seed, 1 cup milk (nut/hemp.rice/soy), 1-2 tbsp sweetener (agave/honey/maple/cane sugar), 1 tsp vanilla.
Directions: Combine all ingredients together. Stir occasionally. Soak at least 1 hour or overnight until a pudding forms. Enjoy!
